Beauty in Lockdown

Beauty in Lockdown

Yep. Lockdown. Extended. Again 😩

No Beauty, No Hair, No Nails, OH MY!

Before you turn your Brooke Shields’ into a pencil thin patchy mess. STOP! Put down the tweezers and embrace this time and grow your brows out. Yep, let them grow and fill in that annoying gap and when we reopen (and we will!) let us perform brow magic on you once again.

Lockdown Beauty DO’s and DONT’S:

DON’T skimp on the sunscreen. Yes, even if you’re stuck indoors. Why? As we are more than likely having more screen time (I’ve actually finished Netflix 😂) we are exposing our skin to HEV light (High Energy Visible Light) which is the blue light emitted from your TV, laptop, iPad, smartphone and other devices as well as the sun.
This light can be harmful to the skin causing pigmentation and premature ageing.
DO invest in a good quality sunscreen but not just any sunscreen, one that is rich in antioxidants and provides specific protection against HEV. Super Sun SPF50 by Sunny Skin is our TOP PICK. Available via the online store.

There will be more on this topic in a future blog. Stay tuned beauties!

DON’T self diagnose. Google can be super helpful when it comes to directions, restaurant reviews and finding the answers to your children’s year 1 homework 🤦🏼‍♀️ but when it comes to skin conditions, speak to an expert. Us! We are always happy to help.
DO continue to seek help from your skin therapist when you need it. While our doors are closed we are still here to assist you snd help you choose the right products for you.

DON’T give in to unhealthy eating habits. We are all in lockdown and baking is the new black but we might need to put down the 5th slice of that freshly baked banana bread and pick up an apple.
DO try and eat healthy and have your baked goods in moderation. Adopting an unhealthy diet can lead to an array of skin problems from redness to acne.

DON’T over do it when it comes to skin care. I know you miss us and trust me, we miss you too but sometimes less is more.
Definitely treat yourself, we all deserve some TLC but a facial a day doesn’t keep the pimples away.
DO treat your skin to an At Home Facial 1-2 times a week. This is usually when you add in your treatment masks and exfoliation steps. Other than that keep your day to day routine nice and simple.

DON’T pick at your lash extensions or try and apply them yourself! I know, we are in week 5 of lockdown now and things are looking a little crazy but waiting for a professional is going to be the best thing you ever did.
DO invest in a growth serum to help condition  your lashes and encourage healthy lash growth.

DON’T become an overnight beauty therapist after watching lash lifting tutorials on YouTube. Things may look easy enough but professional treatments in untrained hands can go very wrong, very quickly.
DO keep up to date with your local beauty clinic and as soon as there is a green light for them to open make an appointment!

DON’T get too experimental. It has become a trend in lockdown to try new things when it comes to our appearance. Pink hair, why not!?  It’s not like anyone is going to see me, what’s the harm? DIY everything kit from Amazon - shut up and take my money!
DO stop and think before entering in those card details. When salons and hairdressers reopen, and we will, it may be a little harder and more expensive to reverse some of these at home experiments.

DON’T packet dye your hair! Now I am no hairdresser but even I know this is not a good idea.
DO embrace your regrowth and instead opt for conditioning hair masks and give your hair a well deserved rest. Imagine the glow up we will all have when salons reopen!

Ohhh take a before and after pic, I’d love to see it!

I am sure there are many more DO’s and DON’T’s when it comes to lockdown beauty treatments but the main point I want to make is that we are all in the same boat. We all have regrowth, we all have short nails, no lash extensions, no monthly facials and no waxing. We are all feeling like a hot mess. Enjoy it and embrace it. It won’t be forever.

We will be back to our routines soon enough and the Glow Up will be amazing!

The staff at Bliss made me feel so comfortable. I was so embarrassed about my skin and taking my makeup off but seeing the girls at Bliss over the past few months has totally changed my skin. I'm feeling more confident and i've even had a few makeup free days!

I have been going to Bliss for 8 years now and I always leave happy. The girls are great and really know their stuff. Most recently I had my bridal spray tan there along with my bridesmaids and the colour was beautiful. Can’t fault the girls at Bliss. Highly recommend.

I have had problem skin for as long as I can remember. I decided to try a facial at Bliss and after just one treatment I could see results. The owner, Jess, put me on a skincare program for 12 weeks and the change in my skin is amazing. I have my confidence back and a smile on my face. So happy!!!
